The Things You Don't Expect...

There are a lot of things in life I didn't expect to happen. I didn't expect for Matt and I to last more than a month when we first started dating or to be married at 18. I didn't expect to be sealed in the beautiful San Diego Temple. I never expected to even become a member of the LDS church! I never expected to move to Arizona or to be poor as dirt. I especially NEVER expected to have 2 kids at the ripe young age of 21. In fact I had everything planned out. I was going to be a very successful woman. I was going to get as much schooling as I could and then be the head of a big company. You know, one of those women who prove to everyone that women really do belong in the business world. I remember telling Matt that if we got married I would NOT be the kind of wife to stay home. Well, I am so glad that my life went so unexpectedly. I am especially glad that I have my kids. I was thinking about this tonight as my daughter was making a mess eating spaghetti and sticking her hands in the bread dough, laughing the entire time. She is such a joy in my life. You never expect a child to teach you so much. I mean, you hear it all the time, but when you realize it yourself, it is so different. Even my unborn son makes me smile when he moves or pushes at Brae when she is lying on my belly. I can see now why some people have so many, it would make me crazy, but they are such an inspiration. It just goes to show that the things we don't expect are the things that make us better and happier.
